Cisco Servers Enter 5th Generation

Cisco announces a 5th server generation-- the Unified Computing System (UCS) M5 series, built on Intel Xeon Scalable processors and offering double the memory capacity.

As the company puts, UCS M5 servers deliver up to 86% higher performance over previous generation UCS servers, making them ideal for data intensive workloads such as real-time analytics and in-memory computing. Further boosting efficiency is what Cisco claims is the highest GPU density on blade servers.

The UCS M5 series consists of 5 models-- the B200 M5 blade server (general purpose half-width blade server with suppport for up to 2 GPUs), B480 M5 blade server (aimed at applications ranging from memory-intensive, mission-critical tasks to distributed database virtualised workloads), C220 M5 rack server (high-density 2-socket rack server for a wide range of workloads), C240 M5 rack server (storage and I/O optimised rack server for big data analytics, software-defined storage and bare metal applications) and C480 M5 rack server (with a modular architecture for flexible technology refreshes).

Extron's First Processor With AV LAN Ports, PoE+

Extron announces the IPCP Pro 360-- a control processor with three dedicated AV LAN ports and one standard ethernet port, designed to control local AV devices and safeguard them from outside intrusion or interference.

The processor provides PoE+ to external devices, eliminating the need for additional power supplies. It features security standards and gigabit ethernet ports, ensuring compatibility with multiple TouchLinkPro touchpanels using a standard network infrastructure. Meanwhile use with Extron LinkLicense further enhances the capabilities of Extron Pro series control systems.

“This new IPCP Pro 360 is our first control processor that provides the convenience of PoE+ to external devices," Extron says. "It’s exciting to watch our Pro Series control processors evolve—now combining multiple AV LAN ports with PoE+ output to an already robust control platform, this new IPCP Pro 360 delivers what customers want and the security they need."

AVProConnect Claims 18Gbps 4x4 Matrix Switch for 4K

The AVProConnect AC-MX44-AUHD is an 18Gbps 4K60 4:4:4 4x4 matrix switch featuring Toslink audio output support up to Dolby 7.1, DTS and LPCM, as well as on-board audio delay control for TV video lip-syncing.

The switch claims to equalise and amplify the output to ensure the HDMI signal can be transmitted through long HDMI signals without quality loss. Meanwhile built-in 1080p to 4K and 4K to 1080p scaling on each output allows for EDID management. Fully matrix-able audio allows one to move the audio signal independently from the video signal at any of the de-embedded audio outputs.
