Google's Android-powered phones jumped from 3% of the market to 26% versus the same quarter last year. iPhones now enjoy soaring sales at 17% of the market.

Buyers no longer favour traditional mobile phones from traditional makers like Nokia (once the formidable Number One, and now vulnerable), Blackberry (dropped to under 15% from 21% last year), and Motorola (who?)

Glowpoint Monitors and Notifies

Glowpoint's NOTIFY monitors any IP-addressable devices in business video environments, and provides notifications on all components' status (monthly subscription required). 

It complements Glowpoint's automated cloud-based telepresence application suite, including Video Room Sweep (VRS).

The company says NOTIFY is easily integrated into any video deployment regardless whether a VNOC managed service is engaged, and be bundled into maintenance agreements offered by its partners.

Web provider Netviewer introduces a new licensing model for the UK: customers can start web collaboration with Netviewer Meet and Netviewer Support with no cost or risks.

After a free trial period, users choose between pay-per-use (20 cents per minute) and a monthly flat-rate charge (17 pounds). In the pay-per-use mode – with no basic charge – the user’s budget is capped at maximum fee of GBP 22.

Obviously the nice thing about the cloud is that clouds don’t have big pockets...
