8x8 launches 8x8 Video MeetingsPro, a solution powered by Jitsi, the open source community for secure video meetings technology sponsored by 8x8. In addition, Jitsi and 8x8 video meeting products run on Oracle Cloud infrastructure.
Available on a subscription-based service, 8x8 Video MeetingsPro includes password-protected and randomly named meetings, real-time closed caption with post-call transcription, 60 days of cloud storage for meetings, recordings and the ability to easily secure authorised attendees through dial out features. Further features should be available in the future.
As a member of the Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN), 8x8 says all 8x8 video meeting products, being powered by the Oracle Cloud, will be available on the Oracle Cloud Marketplace. The marketplace offers a user interface to browse and search for available applications and services, as well as user ratings and reviews to help customers determine the best products for their organisations.
In a separate announcement, the Jitsi community published a specification for true end-to-end encrypted WebRTC-based video meetings. It is available on the Jitsi website, and is open for public comment.
