Pexip announces Adaptive Composition, an AI-powered technology adding real-time face detection, auto-framing and optimised screen real estate use to any camera-enabled device, allowing for a better video conferencing experience.

“We want to make virtual meetings just as effective as in-person meetings," the company says. "With our AI-driven, video-first meeting approach, we’re putting every person on an equal footing, ensuring that everyone can be seen and heard. By removing complexity for end-users, we can deliver an outstanding meeting experience for organizations around the world.”

According to Pexip, Adaptive Composition is a device-agnostic technology compatible with any camera and video system. It claims to improve the capability of room-based camera framing by automatically framing participants for an optimal view. It also prioritises rooms with more people to ensure the most active rooms remain featured at all times, while reducing the unused space around video feeds.

Embedded meeting indicators show attendee count, audio-only users and lock and recording status, ensuring both hosts and attendees focus on the actual meetings. In addition, speaking participants get display names, ensuring the identification of current speakers and making a less distracting user interface.

Adaptive Composition is available in preview form in version 23 of Pexip Infinity, and is set to ship on Q1 2020.
