HP launches a business 2-in-1 laptop with the looks of a high-end consumer device-- the Elite Dragonfly, an addition to the EliteBook line featuring lightweight magnesium construction in a fetching shade of deep blue.

HP Elite Dragonfly

The 13.3-inch Elite Dragonfly is Project Athena-class, meaning it promises premium features from a compact and low weight machine. As such, while the laptop weighs less than 1kg HP promises 24.5-hour battery life, as well as Wifi 6 connectivity and optional 4G capability using 4x4 LTE antennas. The keyboard is ultra-lightweight, while the touchpad allows for an "ultra-smooth" experience.

In terms of hardware, the laptop offers low-power 8th gen (aka Whiskey Lake) Intel Core i3/i5/i7 processors together with up to 16GB of LPDDR3-2133 memory and up to 2TB of SSD storage. The higher-end Elite Dragonfly SKUs use a PCIe 3.1 x4 drive, while the lower-end models ship with a SATA drive, and HP also offers a FIPS 140-2 storage option.

The display is touch-enabled, and comes in either 1080p or 4K resolutions, with the option of an FHD panel incorporating Intel 1W panel technology. Protecting the display is Corning Gorilla Glass 5, and security-conscious customers can add a SureView privacy screen. Further features include wired connectivity via Thunderbolt-enabled USB-C, standalone USB-C, USB-A and full-size HDMI ports, together with a 3.5mm jack. On the audio side the laptop carries x4 Bang & Olfusen-branded speakers and a microphone array.

The Elite Dragonfly ships by end October 2019.
