Intel and Lenovo announce a multi-year collaboration with a focus on high-performance computing (HPC) and artificial intelligence (AI), building on an existing partnership in the datacentre.

Intel Lenovo partnership

Through the team-up Lenovo will optimise the Intel portfolio of HPC and I hardware and software solutions, before bringing about a convergence and AI to "unlock new levels of customer insight." The two companies have already joined forces by combining the 2nd gen Intel Xeon Scalable platform and Lenovo Neptune liquid cooling technology, and currently 173 of the TOP500 fastest supercomputers run on Lenovo servers.

Technologies from the two companies to be brought together include Lenovo TruScale Infrastructure, Intel X architecture, Optane DC persistent memory and the Intel oneAPI programming framework, as well as both current and future generations of Intel Xeon Scalable processors. Lenovo will also bring software, such as the LiCO software stack and DAOS storage framework.

“Our goal is to further accelerate innovation into the Exascale era, aggressively waterfalling these solutions to scientists and businesses of all sizes to speed discovery and outcomes. We are passionate in helping researchers solve humanity’s greatest challenges,” Lenovo says. “Lenovo’s Neptune™ liquid cooling, in combination with the 2nd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable platform, helps customers unlock new insights and deliver unprecedented outcomes at new levels of energy efficiency.”
