Atlona Adds Dolby Vision to OmniStream Line

E-mail Print PDF

Atlona announces a license feature update to the OmniStream AV-over-IP line-- one enabling the distrubtion of 4K video with Dolby Vision HDR over standard 1 gigabit ethernet networks.

Atlona AV over IPDolby Vision is one of the leaders in terms of potential to deliver the best possible HDR viewing experience. However the extension and distribution of 4K video with Dolby Vision HDR is a substantial challenge for installers and manufacturers. Currently AV-over-IP systems offer HDR10 or HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma), but not Dolby Vision, and some HDBaseT systems include video compression for 4K HDR, and while compatible with Dolby Vision are only at 24 or 31Hz.

Atlona claims to have an algorithm enabling full preservation of Dolby Vision HDR metadata while maintaining visually lossless image encoding and decoding, for full interoperability with Dolby Vision HDR streaming media players, UHD Blu-ray devices and displays.

The update will be available for the OmniStream Pro and R-Type series for commercial and residential networked AV applications, respectively.
