Gigabyte announces a pair of PCIe add-in cards allowing customers to add multiple M.2 storage devices to PCs and servers-- the CMT 4032 and 4034, with support for 2 or 4 PCIe Gen3 x4 M.2 SSDs respectively.

gigabyte expansion cardThe CMT 4032 and 4034 have different minimum PCIe slot requirements, depending on the number of drives supported. The CMT 4032 requires a PCIe x8 (Gen3 x8 bus) connector slot, while the CMT 4034 needs a PCI x16 (Gen3 x16) slot. Both cards have the same low profile form factor, measuring 150 x 68.9mm, and are compatible with M.2 type 2280x22110 cards measuring 22 x 80mm or 22 x 110m.

The company warns customers can only use PCIe SSDs with the cards, not M.2 SATA types. Included with the cards are metal heatspreders for the installed drives, and thermal sensors and link/activity LEDs for each individual M.2 slot. The CMT 4034 is aimed solely at server use, but the 4032 should also be usable in consumer PCs.

Gigabyte is still to announce when the cards start shipping.
