Oracle Adds to Cloud Services

E-mail Print PDF

Oracle announces 10 additions to the Oracle Cloud at the OpenWorld 2013 conference-- extending what the company claims is "the industry’s broadest and most advanced cloud portfolio."

Oracle cloudThe new cloud services include the AWS-style Compute Cloud (allows customers to run workloads on the cloud) and Object Storage Cloud (provides storage for large amounts of unstructured data), as well as a managed Database Cloud (supports any Database application) and the Java Cloud (provides WebLogic Server clusters for Java app deployment).

Customers wanting analytics get a Business Intelligence Cloud complete with self-service data uploading and dashboard tools, those wanting file sharing and collaboration have the Documents Cloud, and mobile device users are offered the Mobile Cloud.

Catering for cloud-based database backups is the Database Backup Cloud, while the Business and Revenue management Cloud provides for organisations making use of subscription billing.

And finally Oracle takes on enterprise app stores with Cloud Marketpace, a site for partners to publish apps for potential customers.

All the above mentioned services are currently undergoing a limited preview (a beta of sorts involving 20-100 customers), and should be available sometime during H1 2014.
