Fuji Xerox Printers Get Dropbox-Alike

Fuji Xerox launches a cloud storage service connecting directly to its multifunction copiers-- "Working Folder," allowing users to upload and store documents to the cloud by scan or fax.

fuji xeroxThe service is similar to Dropbox or box.net, and has encryption, versioning and access control by user. It uses a virtual filing cabinet concept, with "drawers" and "folders" users share amongst each other, and should work seamlessly on a new line of Fuji Xerox copiers.

It does need a subscription though-- ¥3500 ($45) monthly allows 10 users to access 10GB of shared storage. The company aims for 10000 contracts per year, and will also consider launching the service outside of Japan should it prove to be a success.
