The Sharp 8M-B80AX1U represents a second generation of professional 8K displays from the company, being an 80-inch 7680 x 4320 resolution display aimed at enterprise environments such as design studios and TV broadcasters.

Sharp 8K TVThe 8M-B80AX1U display raises the bar for business environments that depend on exceptional detail, including design studios and TV broadcasters," the company says. "With this larger, brighter display, even the most complex drawings, designs and blueprints can be examined in minute detail and its lifelike realism can also facilitate the use of virtual reality, making it much easier to assess how new products or machinery will look and perform in the real world."

The display conforms to the 8K UHD standard and allows for a pixel resolution x4 greater than 4K. It also offers twice the brightness of the first generation Sharp professional 8K display at 800 cd/m² (or up to 4,000 cd/m² peak level), and x5 more local dimming backlight zones, enabling a greater contrast between bright and dark areas.

The addition of HDR expands contrast and colour range, while 10-bit extended colour range increases the range of possible colour values in each pixels to up to 1.07 billion colours. The 8M-B80AX1U does not simply upscale content, since the use of x4 HDMI inputs allows customers to display native 8K content, "dramatically" improving image quality.

The 8M-B80AX1U is available now.
