Misco Stops Trading in Spain, Italy

The Misco European business appears to be in trouble, as the distributor has closed down operations in Italy and Spain, at least judging from the messages left on the websites of the aforementioned subsidiaries.

Misco ClosedCurrently the Misco Italy and Spain websites bear the statement "Thank you for your business and continued interest in Misco. We regret to inform you that Misco has stopped trading directly in your country." In other words, Italian or Spanish customers wanting to deal with Misco have to do so via the Dutch subsidiary.

In addition, Misco will also close its social media presences in Italy and Spain. On 15 January, a Spanish customer took to Twitter to demand why Misco Spain is not answering its phone. Misco repeated the above statement, before admitting the Misco Spain Twitter account will close down on 31 January.

In further Misco trouble, the Misco Sweden website is also down-- although currently Misco.se simply says it is currently going through maintenance, and will "hopefully get started as soon as possible."

Are these issues a prelude of what to come? Possibly. After all, Misco UK closed down last October, following the failure of turnaround efforts by owner Hilco Capital. Parent company Systemax had sold the European IT services businesses back on May 2017, but kept the profitable Misco France unit and IPG, the MRO business in the US.
