Founded in 2011, SwiftStack is an early member of the OpenStack project. It is also one of the biggest contributors to the OpenStack Swift open storage platform, and last year announced SwiftStack 7 with a focus on AI, HPC and accelerated computing. This made the company very relevant to the interests of Nvidia, especially since it previously worked with companies such as Ebay, Google and Valohai, and has experience with hardware from the likes of Cisco, Dell, HPE and Supermicro.

"Building AI supercomputers is exciting to the entire SwiftStack team," SwiftStack CEO Joe Arnold reads "We couldn’t be more thrilled to work with the talented folks at Nvidia and look forward to contributing to its world-leading accelerated computing solutions."

SwiftStack says the acquisition will not impact existing customers, and it will continue supporting 1space, ProxyFS, Swift and Controller.
