It's been something of a busy week for Barco-- following the retirement of Eric Van Zele, the company names a new CEO: Jan De Witte. It also announces the acquisition of Medialon, a cloud-based control system company.

BarcoPost-retirement Van Zele will remain in the Barco board to "ensure continuity of leadership and strategic focus."

De Witte is the former CEO of the GE Global Healtcare IT business. He also has experience at McKinsey & Company Inc and has held supply chain and production management positions at Procter & Gamble.

As for the Barco-Medialon deal, the company tells our sister site rAVe news “for us, Barco has the piece we were missing--d a sales channel... We are profitable and this gives Barco access to a market they want more control in-- theme parks and museums-- and they want to grow the corporate control business with Overture.”

The acquisition is effective immediately.
