Huawei Opens European Research Institute

Huawei presents a European Research Institute (ERI) in Leuven, Belgium, which the company says will strengthen its ongoing partnership with European industry as well as help in achieving Digital Agenda targets.

HuaweiThe ERI will manage the company's 18 R&D sites across the company, as well as host 5G telecom research with European partners. Leading the institution is Huawei European R&D, standardisation and technical cooperation activity boss Dr. Zhou Hong.

“As digitisation transforms every business into a digital business, Huawei is working with its partners to achieve a smooth transition towards ‘Europe 4.0’-- the digitised European Union of the future in which everyone and everything will be connected," Huawei CEO Guo Ping says. "Our aim is to help Europe achieve smart growth and build a better connected Europe.”

The company currently employs 1200 R&D staff across Europe.
