Cisco HyperFlex Goes Multi-Cloud

Print

The latest version of Cisco HyperFlex is all about multiple clouds-- as the company describes it, HyperFlex 3.0 is a "platform for the multicloud era" complete with Microsoft Hyper-V support.

Cisco HyperflexAs Cisco puts it, "our aim is nothing less than to help our customers power any app, on any cloud, at any scale." As such, the company uses an end-to-end approach, engineering high performance server and networking through a purpose-built file system. The result is datacentre performance allowing users to support a broader range of applications, including databases and mission critical ERP workloads.

HyperFlex 3.0 supports Microsoft Hyper-V as well as VMware ESXi. It handles Kubernetes-managed containers and enterprise application validations, with design and deployment guides for virtual server infrastructure (VSI), virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), mission critical databases, analytics and ERP applications including Oracle, SQL, SAP, Microsoft Exchange and Splunk.

Of course, service integrations with the Cisco multicloud software portfolio are included, be it with AppDynamics (for performance monitoring of hybrid applications running on HyperFlex across multiple clouds), Cisco Workload Optimisation Manager (automated analysis and workload placement) and CloudCenter (workload lifecycle management across multiple private and public clouds).

HyperFlex 3.0 clusters scale to 64 nodes with added resiliency through fully-automated availability zones. Stretch clusters alow critical availability in campus and metro missions, while Cisco Intersight support extends simplified datacentre deployment and management to any remote location.
