Dell EMC Preps Azure Stack

Dell EMC joins Microsoft as it announces the Dell EMC Cloud for Microsoft Azure Stack-- a turnkey platform for building hybrid clouds running on, well, Microsoft Azure Stack.

MS Azure StackAccording to the company, the platform is ideal for customers wanting to standardise on the Azure ecosystem, as it provides automated IT service delivery for both traditional and cloud-native applicationis. It complements existing platforms such as Dell EMC Enterprise Hybrid Cloud and Dell EMC Native Hybrid Cloud, and leverages on hardware including Dell EMC PowerEdge R730XD servers and PowerConnect switches.

The Dell EMC Cloud for Microsoft Azure Stack comes in 3 sizes-- low, middle and high, respectively consisting of 4, 8 and 12 servers configured to handle 110, 400 and 600 virtual machines. Storage capacity is not detailed, but one can assume it will offer either VSAN Ready Nodes or PowerVault DAS devices.

It is currently available as a single-node developer edition, and early evalution is going on for the 4-node configuration. Shipments are expected to start from H2 2017.
