Cisco teams up with Microsoft to offer the Azure Stack on the Unified Computing System (UCS)-- an integrated, validated system allowing customers to deliver Azure services from on-premises datacentres.

Datacentre cloud“Cisco and Microsoft are coming together to offer a hybrid cloud solution built on the power of UCS and Microsoft Azure,” Cisco says. “Through our joint engineering efforts, application developers and IT managers will have a turnkey solution that is easy to deploy, manage and scale.”

The combination of the Azure stack on Cisco UCS promises accelerated growth and innovation, with a flexible cloud consumption model. Service providers can deliver Azure infrastructure as IaaS and PaaS, and fabric-based UCS architecture features high-performance networking through an Azure stack-optimised Cisco Virtual Interface Card.

A single dashboard provides simplified management and control for all compute and networking elements through policy-based templates, and the IT environment is supported by both Cisco and Microsoft.

The Cisco Integrated System for Azure stack should be available by Q3 2017.
