NEC Adds 16:4 Aspect Ratio LCD to Digital Signage Line

E-mail Print PDF

NEC Display announces a unique addition to its X Series, a 43-inch X431BT bar-type (for lack of a better term) display with 1920x480 native resolution and 700 cd/m² maximum brightness. NEC X431BT

Everyone, including NEC, has 16:9 LCDs for DS applications, but not everyone is looking at different, unique sized applications. This is a flat panel, direct-view LCD monitor that's basically a long, thin strip.

The X431BT includes DisplayPort, HDMI and DVI-D connectivity, capability to be mounted in both landscape and portrait orientation, includes Picture in Picture (PIP), Picture on Picture (POP) and side-by-side display modes.

Two inputs can be displayed simultaneously in any of the modes by either maintaining one aspect ratio or evenly stretching both images to fill each half of the screen.

The iAd Network: Personal Digital Signage

E-mail Print PDF

We are about to witness the largest deployment of digital signage in history.

That's right - the largest deployment of digital signage technology, ever.

How big?

Well, well over 100 million (yes, million) people (translation: sets of eyeballs) will instantly be part of the world's largest digital signage network tomorrow (July 1st) when Apple launches iAd on the iPhone, iPod Touch and, one assumes, the iPad.

iAd Network Apple has laid out its plan with iAd and it's pretty simple - advertisers can embed "interactive" ads inside Apps (I also assumes that eventually - although this hasn't been addressed directly by Apple, yet - ads could be embedded into other services that Apple includes on all iPhones (e.g., Mail, Text Messaging/MMS, Safari).

However, these aren't just banner ads, the ads are interactive such that you can run the ad totally inside the App itself and when you finish the ad, go back to where you were in the App. May not seem like a big deal, but one of the biggest complaints of banner ads is that they take you somewhere on a website that you may not want to go - thus, many people never click on them.

Exhibio Launches Enterprise Solution

Exhibio releases their Enterprise System, a large-scale digital signage platform designed for easy deployment of digital signage into business and college campuses, retail chains and franchise locations.

The system is powered by the Enterprise Server, which runs Exhibio’s Digital Signage Management System, integrated software with a web-based interface where users can design signs and schedule content on screens anywhere in the world.

One Enterprise Server combined with remote smart terminals can produce hundreds of digital signs, each showing unique content or sharing content with other screens on the system.

The signs can carry the same content as Exhibio’s all-in-one X-800HD Digital Signage Engine: HTML, RSS feeds, live TV, video, audio, images, text, Flash, and more.

Exhibio’s other product lines, the X and M-Series, push a single stream of content to connected displays.

Dune HD Network System

E-mail Print PDF

"Dune," of course is the title of the famous series of sci-fi novels by Frank Herbert. And those sci-fi fans will "grok" the Dune HD Network system.

Dune HD Network is designed for easy, less complex digital signage. Automating the HD demonstration of media on monitors and TVs sets, it can cycle video in a show with the possibility to add scrolling text lines and logos (and schedule those to appear in specified intervals).

It also allows you to operate all of processes in system devices remotely.

With up to 1080P of video playback and HDMI v1.3, it does all the things you want from a basic digital signage system with an easy-to-use GUI.

With a special "HDNetwork"-enabled license installed, you can download firmware and use any Dune player models as a presenter in the Dune HD Network system: Dune HD Mini, Dune HD Base, Dune HD Base 2.0

The HumanKiosk

E-mail Print PDF

At this year’s Digital Signage Expo in USA, The MediaTile Company showcased its HumanKiosk with 4G Video Presence.

MediaTile’s HumanKiosk utilizes 4G networking Video Presence technology to deliver a live, 2-way in-store video session as an integrated and relevant part of the content and messages displayed on the digital sign.

This enables a consumer to be much more actively engaged in a product experience though a live conversation with a representative of that product or service. A customer seeking additional information about a new product can simply touch the screen to establish a live visual and audio connection with a product expert located anywhere around the globe.

Once the video session is completed, the digital sign returns to its regular on-screen promotional schedule. Setting up the fully integrated solution requires nothing more than accessing a standard power outlet. It can be easily deployed into any retail, service or other locations that consumers regularly visit.
