Blue Jeans Network offers videoconferencing in the cloud. At $299 per port, per month, Blue Jeans likes to call their strategy an “MCU Killer.”

Their “virtual MCU” can be anywhere from 65-90% percent less over 3 years than the physical MCU, says Blue Jeans.

 HP, Microsoft, Polycom: Bundling Against Cisco

Last summer Polycom bought HP's video and telepresence business and also became the exclusive videoconferencing supplier for HP's reseller and integrator businesses.

Now they will launch the first integrated, all-in-one solution bundle to come from the two vendors that’s intended to be sold through the channel. And there will be more bundles in the future…

If a fist makes a more powerful weapon than a single finger, then you’ll realize how Hewlett Packard and Polycom, along with Microsoft, will hit Cisco harder by making available to the channel unified communications and video bundles that tie together networking products from all three vendors.

The bundles now come in only two specific offerings (only one is available for sale by HP and Polycom partners).

HP and Polycom Rich Media Communications (RMC) is a bundled offering of HP Networking products -- including its 12500 and 10500 series switches -- and Polycom RealPresence video products will be sold through VARs. Read more...

The Red Dot Award is selected by an international jury of designers and design experts. Red Dot explains: “This year, approximately 1800 companies from 58 countries took part. The internationally renowned expert jury was faced with the daunting task of evaluating a total of 4514 entries in the product design category.
