Auvik and Cisco Team Up in Networking Insights

Network management software provider Auvik Networks announces a collaboration with Cisco to provide managed services providers (MSPs) greater insight into the performance of Cisco networking hardware.

The integration, Auvik says, brings MSPs greater efficiency by giving warranty and firmware information about Cisco equipment directly within Auvik.

“Our MSP partners will no longer need to manually look up the warranty status of a Cisco device or its latest firmware version,” the company adds. “This information can be critical when making decisions about how to evolve and optimise a client’s network to support their business, and we’re making it much easier for MSPs to access this data.”

VMware Boosts NSX Software-Defined Networking

VMware announces the latest releases of NSX-T Data Center 2.4 and NSX Cloud, allowing enterprises both large and small to leverage cloud-scale and performance to accelerate the adoption of Networking Function Virtualisation (NFV).

According to the company, the Virtual Cloud Network is the future of networking-- one based on a software-defined network architecture spanning all infrastructure and tying all pieces with one-click deployment. At the heart of the Virtual Cloud Network is NSX, a means to deliver consistent, pervasive connectivity and security for apps and data wherever they reside. NSX can optimise workload placement across a larger pool of physical resources, unlocking "stranded" capacity in a hardware-based network segment or VLAN.

Gartner: Digital Twins Enter the Mainstream

According to Gartner, 13% of global organisations implementing Internet of Things (IoT) projects already use digital twins, while 62% are either in the process of establishing digital twin use or plan to do so.

The results come via study by the analyst conducted on July-August 2018. It involved an online survey of 599 organisations in China, Germany, India, Japan, the UK and US, with each organisation having annual revenues greater than $50 million, as well as plans to deploy at least one use case of IoT by 2019.

Arrcus Supports 400GbE Networks

Arrcus, a startup behind the ArcOS open operating system for white-box switches, announces it now supports 400GbE and high-density 100GbE switching platforms, a first optimised for 5G and hyperscale cloud environments.

The announcement follows the production release of ArcOS on StrataXGS Trident 3 and StrataDNX Jerico+ based solutions, as it now also supports Broadcom StrataXGS Tomahawk 3. The silicon is available on platforms from multiple ODM vendors, featuring 32 ports of 400G (1RU) and 128 ports of 100G (4RU). The latest version of ARcOS enables a range of use cases, including hyperscale datacentre IP fabrics for deep learning workloads, massively distributed and interconnected edge datacentres and flatter topology of high-radix, low-latency storage environments.
