WD Upgrades G-Technology Drives With Thunderbolt 3

Western Digital (WD) follows the launch of the G-Drive USB-C with upgrades on the G-Technology product lines-- the G-Drive with Thunderbolt 3, G-Raid with Thunderbolt 3 and G-Speed Shuttle XL.

WD G-TechnologyAimed at creative professionals such as videographers and digital photographers, the upgraded storage products promise "complete, high-capacity workflow solutions" customers can easily integrate into the larger Thunderbolt 3 ecosystem.

The G-Drive with Thunderbolt 3 is a high-performance storage solution offering x2 Thunderbolt 3 ports and a USB-C port. Users can daisy chain up to 5 additional devices, while capacities reach up to 12TB through an included HGST-brand Ultrastar 7200RPM enterprise class HDD, with transfer rates reaching up to 245MB/s.

Meanwhile the G-Raid with Thunderbolt 3 is a removable dual-HDD RAID 0, 1 or JDBOD storage system featuring Thunderbolt 3, USB 3.1 and HDMI 2.0 ports. It can be plugged in 4K 60 HDR displays and editing tools for quick access, browsing, editing and backup of digital libraries, while Ultrastar 7200RPM drives handle multi-stream HD, 2K, 4K and HDR video workflows.

The final product is the G-Speed Shuttle XL-- a transportable 8-bay RAID solution offering x2 Thunderbolt 3 ports and hardware in RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, and 50 configurations. It carries Ultrastar 7200RPM enterprise-class HDDs, with storage capacity of up to 96TB and transfer rates reaching 2000MB/s.

All G-Technology products are pre-formatted for Macs, allowing easy setup and Time Machine compatibility.
