Software AG acquires Cumulocity, the internet of things (IoT) specialist based in Dusseldorf, Germany. The terms of the deal are not available.
Cumolocity offers connectivity for networked devices and sensors through a cloud-based device management and application enablement platform. It has been in a partnership with Software AG since 2015, and the acquisition is described as the "next local step" in the relationship between the two companies.
“At Cumulocity we are firmly convinced that we will be able to accelerate our success story as part of Software AG," Cumulocity CEO Bernd Gross says. "The exchange of know-how and technology expertise concerning the industrial Internet will not only benefit both companies, but especially our customers."
The deal follows Software AG's December 2016 purchase of AI developer Zementis, as well as recent alliances with Bosch, Octo, Dell and Huawei.
