HP Presents Z2 Mini Workstation

HP announces the Z2 Mini-- a diminutive octagonal-shaped computer the company claims packs the "performance of a traditional workstation tower in a size that's 90% smaller."

HP Z2 MiniDesigned primarily for CAD users, the Z2 Mini carries either Core i7 or Xeon CPUs, Nvidia Quadro GPU, 2 storage devices, 1.5TB SSD and up to 32GB of DDR4 RAM. Connectivity comes through x4 dual-mode DisplayPort connectors, x4 USB 3.0 and x2 USB-C ports, ethernet connector, wifi 802.11ac radio and TRRS audio input.

The workstation measures all of 216×216×58mm, making it bigger than Intel's NUC machines, and weighs around 2kg. The body includes 75/100mm VESA mounts, allowing easy installation behind displays, under desks or simply on desks. Construction includes metal shrouds covering heat generating components, while "whisper quiet" fans handle active cooling.

HP adds the Z2 Mini has ISV certification and 368000 hours of quality testing in applications including AutoCAD, Vectorworks, MicroStation, Inventor, SOLIDWORKS, Solid Edge and Revolt. It should start shipping from December 2016.
