BlueData announces the EPIC Big-Data-as-a-Service platform is now running on public clouds, with the first compatible cloud being Amazon Web Services (AWS).
The company adds EPIC allows customers to deploy Apache Hadoop and Spark on public clouds while keeping data on-premises, something required by EU-based companies and regulated industries, without loss in performance.
Customers will also allow multi-cloud (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform) deployments, with a "single pane of glass" providing a unified UI for the creation and management of big data environments, irrespective of underlying infrastructure or cloud service.
Another addition is compatibility with a broad range of big data frameworks and applications, with extended App Workbench functionality allowing admins to easily modify and update preconfigured Docker images or create new images for other applications and tools.
“The BlueData software platform is the first Big-Data-as-a-Service solution available for both on-premises and public cloud environments,” the company says. “The future of big data analytics will be neither 100% on-premises nor 100% in the cloud. We’re seeing more multi-cloud and hybrid deployments, with data both on-prem and in the cloud. BlueData provides the only solution that can meet the realities of these mixed environments in the enterprise.”
