CeBIT 2016 seen the launch of PaaSport, an EU-sponsored project from the German Federation of IT SMEs helping European cloud and providers (primarily of the SME variety) offer interoperable PaaS services.
First introduced back in 2013, the PaaSport project aims to help with application and transferability problems encountered in the development of cloud applications. As such, it hopes to help the creation of interoperable PaaS services through a thin non-invasive comparison portal (aka cloud broker) offering a range of tools to help end consumers choose the best option from a range of cloud services.
PaaSport users can try cloud service prototypes and demos, and should provide a flexible and efficient approach to cloud provisioning and migration. The result, the makers hope, will help boost the quality of services SMEs provide, as well as generate more attractive cloud service offers to potential customers.
