PCs, Servers Make Intel's 2014

E-mail Print PDF

The PC and server businesses drive Intel's 2014 as the company reports "record" full-year revenues worth $55.9 billion, a 6% increase over 2013, while Q4 2014 revenues total $14.7bn with 6% Y-o-Y growth.

Intel "The fourth quarter was a strong finish to a record year," CEO Brian Krzanich says. "We met or exceeded several important goals: reinvigorated the PC business, grew the Data Center business, established a footprint in tablets, and drove growth and innovation in new areas. There is more to do in 2015. We’ll improve our profitability in mobile, and keep Intel focused on the next wave of computing."

As mentioned earlier PCs and servers are the key drivers of the year, as full-year 2014 PC Client Group revenues are up by 4% to $34.7bn while Data Center Group revenues reach $14.4bn with 18% growth. The two divisions' results are also positive on Q4 2014, reaching 3% and 25% Y-o-Y growth respectively.

Another growth segment for Intel is the Internet of Things, with 2014 revenues growing by 19% and Q4 2014 revenues up by 10% Y-o-Y. However the company continues to fail to make any headway in mobile, as the Mobile and Communications Group shows a -85% revenue decline in 2014 and negative revenues of -$6m in Q4 2014.

The software and services segments remain more or less flat with 1% growth in 2014.

Moving to the future, Intel expects mid-single digit growth for full-year 2015, if with hopes of Windows 10 driving "the next wave of PC refreshes." Meanwhile Q1 2015 revenues are forecast to reach $13.7bn, plus or minus $500m.
