IBM's Softlayer joins the Equinix Cloud Exchange, providing customers in 9 markets across Europe, the Americas and Asia Pacific with access to the IBM portfolio of cloud-based enterprise service via the platform.
SoftLayer in the Cloud Exchange allows customers to build hybrid clouds with IBM infrastructure as a public component.
Meanwhile the Equinix Cloud Exchange also gets further enhancements, including API functionality allowing for scalable, private and secure connections to cloud services with "near real-time" provisioning.

Cloud Exchange is available in 17 markets, with European options including Amsterdam, London and Paris. On the other hand the SoftLayer network will count 40 cloud centres.
