Juniper CEO Exits Following Probe

E-mail Print PDF

Following a "review by the board of directors of his leadership and his conduct in connection with a particular negotiation with a customer" Shaygan Kheradpir resigns from his post as Juniper Networks CEO.

Shaygan Kheradpir"The board and Kheradpir have different perspectives regarding these matters," a terse company statement reads, perhaps a sign that Kheradipr might not have actually wanted to resign, even if the board's decision remains final.

The details behind the ousting are fuzzy, but according to an anonymous Bloomberg source Kherdapir had lost the trust of the Juniper board. He was at the reins of the company for all of 10 months, following his replacing of Kevin Johnson last January. That same month the company was targeted by activity hedge fund Elliot Management, which forced the return of at least $3 billion to shareholders and reduce expenses by $160 million.

Taking over the CEO position Rami Rahim, a 17-year Juniper veteran and one of the architects behind the company's flagship MX router product.

"Rami is the right CEO to lead Juniper," the board says. "He is a talented leader who brings deep instincts about the networking industry, and enormous support from our employees and our customers. Rami has succeeded at every challenge he's ever taken on at Juniper, and we couldn't be more excited about his ability to lead this company."

The company adds the change in leadership will not affect its financial statements.
