E-mail Print PDF

Cisco continues building on its Intercloud effort-- the global cloud network gets over 30 partners, including the likes of Deutsche Telekom, BT, NTT DATA and Equinix, as well as another $1 billion in investment.

CiscoMore new partners include Adapt, ANS Group, CGI Group, Cirrity, CTI, Ethan Group, Infront Systems, LightEdge Solutions, LG CNS, Logicalis, Long View, Netelligent, NWN, OneNeck IT Solutions, OnX Managed Services, Peak 10, Presidio, Proxios, PT Portugal/Oi, Quest Media and Supplies, Steria, Virtustream, Wipro, Dimension Data, Forsythe Technology, Presidio, World Wide Technology, Comstor, Ingram Micro and Tech Data.

According to the company the announcement expands the reach of the Intercloud by 250 additional data centers across 50 countries, providing customers with a cloud platform capable of handling the demands of the Internet of Things and high-value application workloads.

"The [Intercloud] strategy is gaining momentum in the open source community and providing partners with a powerful cloud platform with global reach, and Internet scale and efficiencies,” Cisco says.  “Intercloud Fabric and Application Centric Infrastructure innovations uniquely position us to connect disparate cloud services to unlock the full potential of cloud, and with it a new era in IT.”

Another Cisco announcement involves the company's take on hybrid cloud services-- the Intercloud Services bundle, a package of Intercloud Fabric- and ACI-based technologies allowing private cloud customers to extend infrastructure to the Cisco IaaS offering.

Also announced is the addition of two virtualised and automated managed services to the Evolved Services Platform (ESP), namely Security and Cloud VPN.

A final piece of Cisco news is the shipping of Intercloud Fabric, a piece of software for x86-based servers allowing customers to migrate workloads between private, hybrid, public (Microsoft Azure, AWS and others) and Cisco clouds.
