LSI Intros Syncro Architecture

E-mail Print PDF

LSI launches a shareable, scaleable storage architecture making use of direct-attached storage (DAS) on top of MegaRAID technology-- Syncro, a system multi-server solution use.

storageAccording to the company Syncro architecture bridges the gap between DAS single-server storage and traditional external storage in order to handle environments ranging from SME and enterprise to large data centres and cloud.

Syncro comes within two LSI product families-- Syncro CS (for SMEs) and MX (for cloud and mega-data centres).

The first product using the architecture is the Syncro MX-B Rack Boot Appliance, a NAND-powered rackable boot appliance able to control up to 48 servers in DAS environments.

Using NAND flash processor technology from recent LSI purchase SanDisk, the Rack Boot appliance promises increases in reliability, accessibility and serviceability (RAS), as well as lower power consumption than traditional SATA boot drives.

The appliance is available in 24- and 48-power configurations, with boot images on RAID volumes and hot-swappable internal HDDs. Redundant fans and power supplies further increase RAS.

LSI expects it will introduce more Syncro products during H1 2013.
